Vianen and Kinderdyke

Geertje took us for a walk in Vianen. It is a pretty walled town, about 10 km South of Utrecht, with several buildings from the 1600s and 1700s.

It is close to the Rhine, and has some canals, locks and dykes. The Rhine has all types of passing boats, carrying freight from Germany to Rotterdam.

After that Gordon drove us all to Kinderdyke to see a group of 17 restored windmills, set up in the 1700s for pumping water and draining the land under sea level. People live in them, they are fitted with beds and living areas.

Kinderdyke had a group of geese that liked the look of Doug and gave him a few firm bites. He didn't want to offer his leg for some more bites, photos were hard to take due my helpless laughter.

What a mean wife you are having helpless laughter while your husband is being eaten by geese!! Poor Daddy, I feel sorry for you!
Gorgeous photos, I love the windmills. Looks as though it is colder there??
