Carrick-On-Shannon

We left the Little Pig's House at about 09:30 and headed South, through Omagh and Enniskillen towards the Ireland border.

A brief stop at Enniskillen to view Lough Erne, one of many lakes in this area. The wind was cold!

The only border sign is one saying 100 KMH (speed in KMH), then by 3pm we were in Carrick-On-Shannon and we had a walk in the town before heading through the Saturday afternoon traffic jam to our cottage about 8km from town.

It is 2 bedrooms and quite large, and appears to have been cleaned by a man so I have had some work to do! But it is well equipped and we even have an open fire and some peat logs to try out.

Doug was very surprised to find our Vodafone 'Vodem' actually connected to Vodafone.ie in roaming mode. But it used up our remaining 9 pounds balance just checking email, with no emails to read!!!! So we are posting this using free wireless at a cafe in town.

PS Doug managed to find the Waldron's house at Cartron, that they sold in 1835. (His mother's family). Picture tomorrow.

Your cottage looks nice and roomy! What does Carrick mean? Does it mean village or town? "Man cleaning" haha!! Do those two words have any relationship together at all??
