Friday, last day at Carrick-on-Shannon

We found there was one burial ground that we had not seen, at Killumod, with a Waldron vault from 1725, but as you can see it is now a ruin.

Paddy Waldron sent us an email saying that he had found Waldron links to the Lloyds, and would we please enter the family vault at Hillstreet and record the names on the coffins to see who is buried there.

Yes Paddy, we would enjoy doing that (gulp) so off we set in the rain but thankfully no bats or thunder and lightning. We did some food shopping first, worried that we might not feel like it later. Brave Doug entered the tomb and took the photos while I bravely kept watch. One marble plaque that was in there might interest you all:

"In memory of the Rev John Lloyd, for 23 years curate, and for 12 years incumbent of this parish. He officiated in this church and preached from the words 'be ye also ready' on Sunday November 28th 1847 being the first Sunday in Advent, and on his way home was waylaid and murdered. This tablet is erected in memory of a faithful pastor, a kind father and a tender and beloved pastor by his afflicted widow."

It's been an interesting week, off tomorrow to Belfast for 2 days.
