Off to Scotland

Up at 05:30 after another bad night's sleep thanks to the pub over the road from the YHA. We caught our Flybe Dash 8 to Edinburgh without any problems, and had some nice views.

Oh no, the propellor stopped when I took a photo! We picked up our Skoda rental car at Edinburgh from the Europcar agency. We are pleased the Skoda showed none of its 1960 forebears habits of breaking down and falling apart.

Our cottage was easily found, with the help of Gertrude the GPS who has all the roads in her brain again. We had a very nice welcome coffee from the owners and they gave us a 'starter kit' of lunch and other useful things. The cottage is immaculate and in nice country surroundings with cows and horses and Finlay the dog.

We visited Alloa and Sauchie, where my gt-grandfather lived. Unfortunately the locals speak a dialect we can't understand, and wanting a 'road map' we needed to ask for a 'rude marp'.
We're tired after our early start and bed looks good. This cottage has a bath! I can't wait.
