Boyle Wednesday
We had a quiet day and sorted out mundane things like washing, then headed into Carrick-on-Shannon for the internet cafe and lunch by the river.
We then went about 15km to Boyle, where this old abbey is under restoration. It was built by Cistercian monks in the 12th Century, but also occupied in 1659 by the military, who turned it into a fort. They even built a stone doghouse. The stonemasons re-building it have numbered all the stones they are re-installing.
