A day in Maldon

With the kids at school & kindy, we headed out to Maldon, an old mining town with population about 10. The roads were good, with little traffic.



A nice lunch in the local hotel and a look through some craft & collectible shops, and a motor museum.


And we met the local friendly cat (with a bent tail).

Rhys goes swimming

Tuesday is the day for swimming lessons for Rhys.



The kids get expert help from the trainers.



Pull out the wrong disk from the bucket and you get it emptied on your head!



These crows kept an eye on the carpark.

Bendigo School Visit

Bendigo had a rare rainy day Monday, but the rest of the week is forecast to be fine. We went to Golden Square School to drop off Tasha and Emily, and sit in on assembly. We all sang 'Advance Australia Fair'!

We spent some time in town and visited the Post & Telegraph Museum, and the Returned Services Museum.

Bendigo Day 2

First a walk around the local streets.




Sunday was a day to visit some of the local Bendigo parks.





It's tiring being a kangaroo or a wallaby.









We found a big range of birds we had never seen before. Well, apart from the goose!





Parks wouldn't be complete without a kid's playground.

Arrived in Bendigo

Using the tram stop near our apartment, we arrived so early for the train we almost could have caught the earlier one! The train was very fast and comfortable, about 150 kmh.



The scenery comprised mostly arid farmlands and gum tree bush.



It was great to see Kristina and the kids and where they live. Rhys enjoyed his 4th birthday presents.

Melbourne Day 2

Another foggy day 7 degrees, but it cleared just after 10am for a nice day.








Free tram to Old Melbourne Gaol, very interesting getting processed and locked up in the remand lockup! Yes Sergeant! No Sergeant! Slam, lock!



A visit to Victoria Markets was followed by lunch at the Celtic Club.



Then a walk through the Chinese Quarter and finally the Melbourne Museum.
