Grandies visit

A visit on Queen's Birthday holiday by K & the kids.

Rhys is talking a lot and tests and tastes everything. He prefers cars and trucks brrmms them when he pushes them.

Visit to Verikiwi

A most interesting visit to the Verissimo's kiwifruit operation ahead of the School staff dinner.

There are a lot of kiwifruit packed and stored here.



The packing room runs on quality control at all levels. The gold kiwifruit for Japan even have to packed the same way up with the sticker in the same place. Stickers are put on by a machine that sticks them using air at the same time as they are individually weighed.

Alexander William Faulkner

Alex Faulkner was born at 3pm on the 1st May, weighing 7lb 5oz.

A Visit From Brenda

Doug's sister, Brenda paid a fleeting visit to catch up with the family.



Easter Sunday was spent out at Pukekohe watching Doug driving "Ugly Brute" in Sport's Car events. The old rocket went quite well, and a good time was had by all.

End of Term 1

Term 1 has come to an end - lovely holidays!
The class and I were sad to say "Good-bye" to little Dain Lee, one of our ESOL students.

She is off back home to Korea.

Caleb's Christening

Our newest grandson, Caleb, was christened today at St Marks Catholic Church, Pakuranga.




All the Hazlehurst and St George grandparents, aunties & uncles and cousins were there.

Caleb is 5 weeks old now. His little legs are filling out and he's beginning to take notice.

Family Get together at the Herries

I was the welcoming committee. I welcomed and welcomed and welcomed!



Hamish and Charlotte were close behind. They had gone to lots of trouble wrapping little gifts and planning fun activities. Charlotte is very tough where fierce dogs are concerned. As long as she has my hand Jamie will control his urge to eat me.


I (Rhys) enjoy a family do as much as the next guy - especially

when the girls out number the boys.



I'm (Charlotte) having a good time - Daddy got completely plastered in chocolate! You'd think grown-ups would have better party manners wouldn't you? I'm just heading off to test a few more things.

Grace is as lovely as her name. What a dear wee girl.

Emily can't eat while there's a dog in the room. The rest of us did justice to a delicious lunch. We must all do this again sometime - a lovely day!

A new baby!

A big welcome to our 5th grandchild born today!

Who is he like? A little bit like Stacey - glimpses of Jessica - he doesn't have an Alexander nose! Mostly he is like himself. What lies ahead for a baby born in 2006? He already has an adoring sister and lots of cousins to watch out for him.

At the historic club hillclimb on Sunday I tried out the digital camera for the first time. It was quite easy when cars were stationary, this old tractor (the one on the left ha-ha sorry, Doug) had been stationary for about 60 years!

When cars move, it's much harder, you have to follow them (pan) and press the button at the right time. It's easy to catch an empty road, with a car just coming or just going, or half a car! And when you look at your picture, you can easily take a picture of the grass!

But I did get some good pictures, with the help of a little photoshop cropping. I know how to zoom and change the batteries, and I also know that once you have turned the camera off, all the settings that worked are no longer set! It's all up hill from here!

A monarch for Geraldine :-) Geraldine, check the settings in Outlook Express, it' s probably set to block attachments that might contain a nasty virus. If set, it will block all .jpg attachments. Click on the image to see the big version, then File, Save Image As to save it.

Stacey came to dinner and read a book to Nana, blew some bubbles and ate lots of peanuts!

Stacey's dad blew some excellent bubbles.
